The former referee also wanted to clarify certain aspects regarding the accusations of sports injustice made by some national teams against the referees. According to him, "no one can question the integrity of the referees at the World Cup. When this happens, it can lead to threats against them or their families, and that is not right."

This statement from the head of refereeing at FIFA comes in the wake of several statements from players or coaches at the World Cup, who have harshly criticized the referees.
