Christie's auction house Christie's has sold Bob Beamon's 1968 Olympic gold medal for $441,000. The former athlete said it was time to "pass it on" and hopes the new owner will appreciate the medal's true value. Beamon's 1968 performance was a historic one, setting an almost unreal world record of 8.90m.
