Bitcoin surpassed the $85,000 mark on Monday, reaching its highest level since the end of January, amid a sustained rally in the crypto market. The leading cryptocurrency climbed as high as $85,229 and was subsequently trading at approximately $84,256, up 3.8%, according to CoinMetrics data cited by CNBC.
Bitcoin has advanced more than 7% over the past five days and nearly 35% over the past three months. However, the digital currency remains down since the beginning of the year and is approximately one-third below the record high of more than $126,000 set in October 2025.
Matt Hougan, chief investment officer at Bitwise, argues that the “crypto winter” has ended and that the market has entered a new growth phase. BTIG analysts point to $90,000 as a possible target if bitcoin manages to remain above the $75,000 support level.
