Marcelo Bielsa will leave the Uruguay national team after the early elimination from the World Cup: "I haven't left anything to Uruguayan football"

Marcelo Bielsa, the coach of the national team of Uruguay, announced that he will end his term after the team's early elimination from the World Cup. Uruguay had a disappointing run, failing to win any matches in the group stage, including a 1-0 defeat against Spain, in which goalkeeper Fernando Muslera made a crucial error.

Bielsa, who took over the team in 2023, acknowledged that his relationship with the players was poor, describing himself as 'toxic'. Following this failure, he stated that he left nothing valuable in Uruguayan football and that the poor results reflect his management.

Bielsa also mentioned that Muslera requested to be substituted, and Fede Valverde left the field upset. This defeat extended Uruguay's winless streak to seven matches. In contrast, Spain enjoyed qualifying for the knockout stages but was affected by the possible absences of players Yéremy Pino and Nico Williams due to injuries.
