American Ben Shelton, ranked 7th in the world, has managed to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Australian Open after defeating Norwegian Casper Ruud (ranked 13th) with a score of 3-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-4. Shelton will face world number 2, Jannik Sinner, considering that last year, Sinner defeated him in the semi-finals before winning the title. Shelton stated that he is determined to show his potential and that he has made significant progress mentally, having more confidence and focus on the court. This is the second time Shelton has reached the quarter-finals in Melbourne, following a similar performance in 2023.
