Antonio Brown was extradited from Dubai to the United States to face a second-degree attempted murder charge related to a shooting incident in May. The Miami Police Department announced that Brown was located and arrested in Dubai before being transferred to Essex County, New Jersey, by U.S. Marshals. He was held before being moved to the Miami-Dade jail.
Following an investigation, police issued an arrest warrant in June, alleging that Brown took a gun from a security guard and fired two shots at a man with whom he had a prior altercation. Although no initial arrests were made and no injuries were reported, Brown was temporarily held by police but was later released. He claimed he was attacked by several people trying to steal his jewelry. Brown played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he scored a touchdown in the Super Bowl of the 2020-2021 season.
