A Venezuelan citizen was arrested Thursday by Secret Service agents near the White House after allegedly threatening to kill President Donald Trump. The man, identified as Ronny Yordrix Guanipa Chrinos, was in a vehicle reported stolen and had several weapons in his possession.
According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), agents observed him behaving suspiciously and stopped him for questioning. During the confrontation, he allegedly said he had heard voices telling him to go to Washington and kill Trump.
A rifle, two pistols and dozens of rounds of ammunition were found in the vehicle. Chrinos was detained on charges related to illegal possession of firearms, unauthorized use of a vehicle and concealing stolen property. He is in the custody of the US Marshals Service.
DHS says the man entered the United States illegally in 2024. The case comes amid an increase in incidents in the White House area involving people with mental health problems, according to the Secret Service.
