Ana Bărbosu, a Romanian gymnast, has been suspended for two years from competition after being found absent three times from meetings with representatives of the National Anti-Doping Agency. According to the regulations of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), such a situation automatically leads to suspension.

Bărbosu was represented by attorney Howard Jacobs, who is also known for defending Simona Halep, and Stanford University, where she studies on a scholarship, supported her in this process. The absences occurred once in Romania and twice in the United States, which led to the initiation of disciplinary proceedings.

The case was reviewed by the International Testing Agency (ITA), which did not accept Ana's team's arguments to justify the absences. The Romanian Gymnastics Federation announced that it would appeal the decision.
