The head of the General Inspectorate of the Police of the Republic of Moldova, Viorel Cernăuțeanu, announced that thousands of Wi-Fi routers in the homes of citizens have been infected, with the aim of launching cyberattacks on the servers of the Central Electoral Commission on the day of the parliamentary elections. These attacks aim to block the institution's activity by overloading the servers. The police are collaborating with operators to counteract these coordinated actions, and Cernăuțeanu emphasized that he is also a target of compromise attempts.
