Roberta Metsola, the President of the European Parliament, will make a visit to Chişinău on November 6 and 7, according to the announcement made by the president of the Moldovan legislature, Igor Grosu. Metsola will deliver a speech in front of the Parliament's plenary, and the discussions will focus on the opening of accession negotiations for the Republic of Moldova to the European Union. Grosu emphasized that the Moldovan authorities also wish to accelerate the negotiation process, mentioning the statements of the Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, who stated that Moldova is ready for all negotiation chapters. He also highlighted the need for consensus among EU member states to allow a joint start with Ukraine. On September 22, Moldova completed the bilateral screening process, a crucial stage in the accession negotiations, analyzing national legislation in relation to the EU acquis. The completion of this process is considered an important step in the European path of the Republic of Moldova, which obtained candidate country status in June 2022.
