The Socialist Party of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM), led by Igor Dodon, has launched a national information campaign against unification with Romania, following statements from President Maia Sandu and other officials who support a referendum on this issue. Dodon stated that unification would lead to the destruction of the Moldovan state and accused the current leadership of treason. The campaign includes billboards with messages such as "Our homeland is the Republic of Moldova" and "The Republic of Moldova is not Romania," emphasizing that the majority of citizens love their country. Additionally, Dodon highlighted that PSRM will carry out further actions against unification, depending on the evolution of the situation. In contrast, Maia Sandu stated that she would support unification in the case of a referendum, but acknowledged that the majority of Moldovans do not support this idea. A recent poll shows that 33.4% of citizens would vote for unification, while 45.7% would oppose it.
