Before discussions on a draft law concerning states of emergency, the authorities in Chișinău placed security at the center of their public messages. Maia Sandu accused Russia of having attempted to turn the Republic of Moldova into a “second Belarus,” while also warning about threats involving violations of airspace, attacks on infrastructure, and “cognitive warfare” aimed at undermining defense modernization.
Against this backdrop, Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu announced that Moldova intends to develop domestic production of dual-use drones for domestic needs, explaining that legislation should be amended to allow such activities and that dozens of airspace violations have been reported since the Russian invasion in February 2022.
At the same time, the opposition intensified political tensions: PSRM lawmakers, including Igor Dodon, left for Moscow shortly after a secret parliamentary meeting on the structure and size of the National Army, with the delegation set to meet representatives of Russian parties.
