Vasile Tofan, the designated Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, has begun discussions with the ministers of the resigned cabinet to develop a new government program, which will be published by the end of the week.
Tofan announced on Facebook that he will address the most important objectives and blockages for the next 12 months, including priorities related to European integration. He also intends to discuss budget optimization and possible savings. Although the leader of PAS, Igor Grosu, suggested that the current government lineup should remain, Tofan mentioned that he will also bring new faces to the team.
Tofan acknowledged that he will not adopt the Argentine austerity model, emphasizing that government decisions must have a positive impact on the lives of citizens. The former government resigned following controversies related to a new fiscal policy, and Tofan's future depends on the parliament's vote, which will be decided next week.
