Marcel Ciolacu said Monday that Romania could have, in the coming period, either a technocratic government or a governing coalition, as the parties have not yet reached a full agreement. The PSD leader stressed that forming a government is necessary as quickly as possible.
Ciolacu described designated Prime Minister Luca Niculescu as “a reasonable man,” pragmatic and capable of bringing together a parliamentary majority. According to him, negotiations between the parties could lead to the formation of a government in the coming days, but the final formula has not yet been established.
The president of the Buzău County Council warned that the lack of a government with full powers has blocked several administrative projects. These include taking over the Mud Volcanoes and the camps, procedures that require government decisions involving heritage matters.
Ciolacu also said he was concerned about the delay in signing the contract for the hospital’s rehabilitation, a project dependent on the Development Ministry’s allocation of commitment appropriations. After the contract is signed, the tender procedures are expected to begin.
Designated Prime Minister Luca Niculescu announced that he intends to submit the government program and the list of cabinet ministers to Parliament on Thursday. The candidates will then have to secure the Legislature’s vote of confidence.
