Maia Sandu, the President of the Republic of Moldova, signed a decree on Friday establishing the new National Security Council (CNS). This advisory body, responsible for coordinating national security policies, is led by Maia Sandu, with Stanislav Secrieru, presidential advisor in the field of defense, serving as secretary. The composition of the CNS includes important members, such as the President of Parliament, the Prime Minister, ministers, and the head of the SIS, among whom is also Anca Dragu, the governor of the National Bank. The decree repeals a previous act from September 2023 regarding the Supreme Security Council. The draft law for the establishment of the CNS was developed by PAS deputy Lilian Carp and was approved in the last session of the former legislature. The CNS will operate in accordance with the Constitution and national legislation.
