Maia Sandu, the president of the Republic of Moldova, emphasized, after the meeting of the National Security Council, that the risks coming from Russia are increasing, and the authorities cannot relax. She made these statements in the context of recent incidents involving drones that have crossed or fallen on Moldovan territory, amid the war in Ukraine. Sandu stated that aerial threats are a constant reality and that Moldova is investing in radars and defense equipment, but these measures take time.
She also criticized Russia's attitude towards violations of the airspace of states in the region. In recent weeks, Moldova has experienced several incidents with drones, including a drone that fell on a house. Sandu dismissed the idea that Russia's influence over Moldova could change, emphasizing that Moscow's intervention methods are becoming more complex. Moldovan authorities continue discussions with Western partners to strengthen national defense and modernize air monitoring systems, considering the risks generated by the conflict in Ukraine.
