Former Romanian President Traian Băsescu claims that, in the event that pro-Russian socialists take control in the Republic of Moldova, this could pose a military threat to Romania. He refers to the dependence of the socialists on the Kremlin and the risks associated with the Russian military presence in Transnistria. Băsescu emphasizes that such a change could turn Moldova into a "southern Kaliningrad," thereby increasing tensions in the region.
