An unidentified aerial object crashed and exploded in the south of the Republic of Moldova, about 100 km southeast of Chișinău.
The police were alerted by an explosion in the outskirts of the locality, determining that it occurred approximately 3 km away from the locality of Talmaza, causing a vegetation fire.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
The area has been secured, and authorities have intervened to extinguish the fire and investigate the incident.
Preliminary conclusions suggest that the explosion was caused by the impact of an unidentified flying object with the ground. Specialists from the police's technical-explosive section are on-site to determine the origin of the drone.
Previously, the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Moldova reported the entry of an aerial object into national airspace on August 17, and the incident led to the temporary closure of airspace. A similar explosion occurred on August 9 in the locality of Crocmaz, where fragments of a combat drone were found, and the incident generated diplomatic tensions between Moldova and Russia.
