Experts from the Police of the Republic of Moldova have preliminarily determined that the drone that exploded on the evening of September 30, near the localities of Brănești and Ivancea, Orhei district, contains elements specific to the Geran type, equipped with a turbojet engine. All recovered components have been sent for examination.
The on-site investigation, completed during the night of September 30 to October 1, shows that the unmanned aerial vehicle may have collided with trees in a forest strip before falling to the ground and exploding. The impact allegedly occurred near the G72 route, approximately 10 meters from the roadway.
A crater approximately 50 centimeters in diameter and about 30 centimeters deep was identified in the area. Within a radius of 30 meters, the trees were damaged by the blast wave and thermal effect. Two other craters were found approximately 15 meters from the main explosion site.
Investigators discovered fragments within a radius of 120 meters, including rear wing components marked “Geran-4,” electronic modules, and a turbojet engine with traces of burning.
The incident was reported after local residents heard a loud noise. The Ministry of Defense had previously informed that an unauthorized object had crossed the border at 20:45 and disappeared from monitoring systems in the Brănești area.
