Victoria Stoiciu announced on Monday, at the end of the plenary session, that she will continue her activity as an independent senator, after resigning from the Social Democratic Party (PSD) last week. The decision came after her refusal to sign the motion of no confidence against the Bolojan Government, at which point she realized that her vision no longer coincides with the direction of the party.

Stoiciu emphasized the importance of keeping extremist forces politically isolated, comparing the current situation to the rise of fascism during the interwar period. She criticized the concessions made by democratic forces, which have led to the normalization of extremism. In her message, the senator thanked her colleagues from PSD for their collaboration, but stated that she cannot be part of a project that compromises fundamental democratic values.
