Vice President of the European Parliament, Victor Negrescu, chaired the first meeting dedicated to the Multiannual Financial Framework, highlighting the importance of the future budget of the European Union for the period 2028-2034. Negrescu believes that Europe is entering a decisive stage, and the future budget must show whether we want a Europe that delivers results for people or one that hesitates in an increasingly difficult global context.

The meeting was attended by representatives of left-wing parties, the Council, the Committee of the Regions, and the European Commission. Negrescu emphasized that Europe cannot afford a weak budget in the context of global uncertainty, needing an ambitious and fair budget. Among the priorities of the European social democrats are a stronger European Social Fund Plus, a solid cohesion policy, investments in affordable housing, and sustainable agriculture.
