USR criticizes the appointments in justice: "We disagree with the opinion of Mr. President that these appointments do not bear the PSD mark."

USR has issued a press release criticizing the recent appointments in the judiciary, stating that they "bear the PSD mark."

We support the president's desire to energize the work of the prosecutors' offices, especially regarding major corruption and tax evasion cases.

People need to start having more trust in the judiciary, and trust begins with how it is led. That is why we believe these appointments should have been accompanied by a process that inspires unequivocal trust and transparency.

We disagree with the president's opinion that these appointments do not bear the PSD mark. A process presents as much trust as the people who lead it. Mr. Marinescu, a PSD minister, led a flawed process that did not inspire trust among many honest prosecutors in the system.

The concerns of civil society are real. Warnings have come from honest prosecutors within the system. They have come from the CSM. They have come from anti-corruption NGOs. They have come from people who have protested in the streets at key moments over the last decades and stood for an independent judiciary," USR stated in the press release.

USR is committed to remaining "on the barricades" to support a justice system oriented towards citizens, not the privileged, and expects concrete results from the new appointments.
