USR Bucharest has proposed the introduction of a pilot program for free public transport every Friday, called "Green Friday", as part of a set of measures for modernizing urban mobility. This initiative aims to increase the attractiveness of public transport and reduce the use of personal cars, in the context of high fuel prices. The proposal, estimated to have an annual budget impact of 25-30 million lei, is part of a broader plan that includes expanding infrastructure for public transport, reorganizing transport authorities, eliminating diesel buses by 2035, digitizing the system, and modernizing the tourist line "Bucharest City Tour". USR councilors, after consultations with specialists and users, emphasize that these measures are realistic and can transform public transport into the first option for Bucharest residents. Lucian Judele, the public administrator of the Capital, expressed hope that the initiative will encourage the use of public transport and contribute to a cleaner environment in Bucharest.
