Ștefan Pălărie, the leader of the USR senators, stated that the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee gave a negative opinion on the simple motion submitted by the Opposition regarding the EU-Mercosur Agreement. This motion is part of a set of three simple motions that will be debated in the Senate. Pălărie mentioned that the final decision regarding the debate on the motion will be made within the Permanent Bureau of the Senate, which will meet shortly. The contested motion, initiated by the Pace - Întâi România group and the Alliance for the Union of Romanians, highlights the deficiencies of the Government regarding the awareness of the consequences of the Mercosur agreement. It was signed by senators Petrișor Peiu and Ninel Peia.
