Deputy Prime Minister Tanczos Barna stated that UDMR might consider leaving the government if the situation in the coalition worsens, but emphasized that UDMR can also better utilize its political strength from within the coalition. The statement was made in the context of the request from UDMR President Kelemen Hunor to Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan to allow a reduction of local taxes by up to 50%.

Kelemen Hunor emphasized that reversing the increase of these taxes would not be a sign of weakness, but of maturity, considering that the limit of tolerability has been exceeded. In response, Bolojan mentioned that the current legislation only allows for tax increases and that in order to allow a decrease, it is necessary to amend the law before the budget approval.
