The president of UDMR, Kelemen Hunor, stated that, following discussions in the coalition, a 10% reduction in expenses in local and central administration has been decided. The year 2026 will be considered a transition year, during which salaries or the number of positions can be reduced, but from 2027 these options will no longer be available.

Hunor emphasized that, although the reduction will be uniformly 10% in most cases, there will be variations in central administration, with some ministries potentially facing larger cuts. He mentioned that it is important to reduce expenses to achieve a budget deficit of 3%, but he stressed that simply cutting expenses will not be sufficient without stimulating the economy. Hunor also proposed a limitation of VAT to support long-term consumption.
