Five representative trade union confederations in Romania have sent a letter to the President, asking for a meeting to mediate the conflict with the Government caused by the lack of dialog on austerity measures. The union leaders warn that if the request is not honored, they will launch protests and initiate procedures for a general strike. They have requested meetings with Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, but to no avail, which is why they are turning to the president to intervene.
