Eugen Tomac, the honorary advisor to President Nicușor Dan, stated Wednesday morning on Digi24, in a first reaction following the submission of the designated prime minister's mandate, that "the parties started the electoral campaign much too early," while PNL has not been consistent with its positions during the consultations at Cotroceni.

Eugen Tomac said that on Saturday, a day before Nicușor Dan announced that he was submitting his mandate and designating Adrian Veștea in his place, he had over 200 votes, but "a few were missing" to obtain a majority in Parliament.

He mentioned that he "had the opportunity to participate in consultations with the parties both before and after the motion," recalling that the head of Cotroceni consulted the formations immediately after the censure motion that ousted the Bolojan Government to bring the parties of the former coalition to the same table.

According to him, PNL and PSD did not refuse the idea of trying to form a technocratic government. "If UDMR had constant reservations, at USR the opinions were divided, PNL and PSD were the only parties that showed openness" towards a technocratic government, but "subsequently PNL no longer held the same position.

He specified that he learned about Adrian Veștea's nomination as a new designated prime minister on Saturday evening.

"On Saturday evening I learned about this nomination. I don't remember the exact hours because I didn't time the evolution," Tomac conveyed.

He emphasized that it was not President Nicușor Dan who asked him to submit his mandate.
