The President of Romania has convened the leaders of the political parties that support membership in the European family to discuss the formation of a new government. Eugen Tomac stated that the president is a rational leader who understands the parties' concerns, but emphasizes that action is needed in the interest of citizens, not political debates. Although the leader of the PSD, Sorin Grindeanu, mentioned that early elections remain an option, Tomac stated that the president does not intend to organize such elections.
It was also noted that the president has not put forward any proposal for the position of prime minister and is waiting for openness from the parties to form a parliamentary majority. Tomac emphasized that it is essential for the parties to collaborate to unblock the current situation.
