The PACE Group in Romania announced that it has prepared a simple motion against the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Oana Ţoiu, accusing her of a flawed and ideologized representation of Romania's interests within the EU-Mercosur agreement. Senator Clement Sava emphasized that foreign policy is not a theoretical exercise and criticized Oana Ţoiu's decision to support the agreement, which could have negative effects on Romanian agriculture. The signatories of the motion, including 12 PACE senators and 34 AUR senators, believe that this choice was a politically assumed option that ignored inter-ministerial consultation. They also accuse the minister of an ideological approach in foreign policy, which led to a serious diplomatic error. The motion highlights that Romania had the opportunity to influence the negotiations but chose to support the agreement without negotiating, which could severely affect Romanian farmers. This initiative is not just a criticism of Oana Ţoiu, but reflects a broader vision of Romania's foreign policy.
