Cristian Bușoi, Secretary of State in the Ministry of Energy, stated that we must be prepared for the eventuality that Unit II at Cernavodă will not operate temporarily. He recommended reducing energy consumption through measures such as limiting the use of air conditioning in the evening hours and rescheduling vacations for employees in the industrial sector. Additionally, after the sinking of the barges, the level of the Danube has risen, but Bușoi warned that the improvement is not lasting. He emphasized the importance of preparing for crisis situations, including consumption limits for large industrial consumers, without affecting the population. Bușoi mentioned that optimizing consumption can bring financial benefits for consumers without compromising comfort.

"After the first sinkings, we saw an improvement in the level of the Danube in the Cernavodă area. From the data we have, it seems that this effect was not a lasting one. We must be prepared for the scenario in which Unit 2, for a short period of time, would not operate. We must be prepared and we have taken steps through the Government Decision regarding crisis situations, then through the approval of the consumption limitation regulation by Transelectrica, as the Prime Minister has explained publicly several times, it is good to be prepared for scenarios in which, in the worst case, obviously, we would have some consumption limits during peak hours for large industrial consumers, that is the worst that can happen," stated Cristian Bușoi, Secretary of State in the Ministry of Energy, to RFI.
