The government led by Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan assumes, for the second time, responsibility for the reform of judges' pensions, despite their opposition. The proposal includes extending the transition period from 10 to 15 years and capping special pensions at 70% of the last net income.
Kelemen Hunor, the president of UDMR, stated that this initiative is a constitutional tool, although judges do not agree with the proposed cap. He emphasized that, in the event that the law is challenged in the Constitutional Court, the chances of success for the judges are high.
The leader of PSD, Sorin Grindeanu, criticized the delay in negotiations and highlighted the importance of the Constitutional Court's reasoning to understand the reasons for the previous rejection of the project. Kelemen mentioned that, to reach a compromise, both parties must be willing to concede.
