Nicușor Dan: The next Eastern Flank Summit will take place in Romania in 2027

President Nicușor Dan announced that the next meeting of the Eastern Flank Summit (Helsinki Format) will take place in Romania at the beginning of 2027, the decision being agreed upon by the participating leaders at the meeting held in Gdańsk, Poland. The head of state specified that the organization of the summit in Romania is planned unless exceptional events occur by then.

During the meeting, the leaders of the Eastern flank countries of the European Union reaffirmed their unity in the face of security threats posed by Russia, support for Ukraine, and the need to strengthen cooperation between the EU and NATO. Nicușor Dan emphasized the importance of the Black Sea region for European security and presented Romania's progress regarding the development of the security hub in the Black Sea.

At the same time, the president advocated for the allocation of additional resources for defense and strategic infrastructure in the future budget of the European Union, highlighting Romania's role in strengthening security on NATO's and the EU's eastern flank.
