On Wednesday, the deputies adopted a bill that introduces, in peacetime, voluntary active military service for Romanian citizens who wish to prepare for military service. The project was voted with 263 votes 'for', 11 against, and 13 abstentions and will be sent to the Senate for approval.
The new concept of 'volunteer soldier/rank in term' is aimed at men and women aged between 18 and 35 who have not completed other forms of military service. Participants will follow a basic military training program lasting up to 4 months, benefiting from accommodation, equipment, food, medical assistance, and a monthly salary. After completing the program, they will receive an allowance of 3 average gross salary earnings and will be registered in the operational reserve.
