A bill proposed by the Ministry of Justice provides for the termination of rental contracts for service housing occupied by special pensioners from the Ministries of National Defense, Internal Affairs, and Justice. These pensioners currently pay modest rents, of a maximum of 200 lei per month, for housing whose prices have not been updated since 2007. The Ministry of Justice does not have enough housing for judges and prosecutors, and the project has been blocked at the Ministry of Defense, where most beneficiaries are located. The project must be approved by the Government and voted on by Parliament to come into force. According to the law, service housing is intended for active employees, and pensioners are not considered vulnerable, having sufficient income. This initiative arises in the context of the reform of special pensions in the judicial system.
