Siegfried Mureșan, PNL MEP, rejected the PSD's accusations that Romania's support for the EU-Mercosur agreement would be a betrayal without guarantees for farmers. Mureșan stated that the PSD "is looking for a needle in a haystack" and is politicizing an important economic issue. He emphasized that the agreement, negotiated for 25 years, is essential for economic development and job creation. Additionally, Mureșan highlighted that, as the chief negotiator for the EU budget, he secured 48 billion euros to support farmers.
According to him, the Mercosur agreement, with protective clauses, will bring benefits to Romania, and the PSD should have led an active debate on this subject, considering that it has governed Romania for a long period. Mureșan accused the PSD of imitating AUR's positions to regain lost voters.
