European Commission Vice-President, Roxana Mînzatu, announced that Romania will reallocate over 2.8 billion euros from European funds towards four of the new priorities of the European Union, as part of the review of the Cohesion Policy for the period 2021-2027.

This amount will be directed towards areas such as competitiveness and strategic technologies, defense and crisis preparedness, social housing, and water infrastructure. Mînzatu emphasized that approximately 456 million euros come from the European Social Fund Plus. The funds will be used for digitalization, vocational training in future fields, expanding essential water infrastructure, and developing social housing. Romania is among the top 5 EU member states in terms of fund allocation for these priorities, demonstrating the relevance of the Cohesion Policy in reducing development gaps.
