Oana Țoiu, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, stated that Romania has a set of measures prepared against Russia, following the recent incident when a drone crashed in Galați, injuring two people.
Although there is no evidence that Russia intentionally sent the maritime drone, security risks in the Black Sea are increasing, and Romania is prepared to respond.
“We have a set of measures prepared, we have discussed it with the president over the past few days. But obviously, unfortunately, the increased volume of attacks that Russia has on Ukraine is also reflected in the rising security risks on Romanian territory, and this means that we will see a high frequency of drone debris, the Defense radars constantly see a significantly higher volume very close to our borders.
We are prepared to respond both militarily and diplomatically to defend the safety of our citizens on our territory,” said Oana Țoiu.
Țoiu emphasized that the closure of the Russian Consulate in Constanța was a correct decision, considering the increased volume of Russian attacks on Ukraine.
Regarding the incident with the drone at Neptun Deep, Oana Țoiu commented: “We have no data regarding an intention from the Russian Federation, but, as President Nicușor Dan also stated, we believe that Russia must take responsibility for the high security risks in the Black Sea.”
