Deputy Raluca Turcan stated that the conservative platform within PNL seems to have been created under the influence of the PSD president, Sorin Grindeanu, and that the party does not need such an initiative, already having a well-defined political program. Turcan emphasizes that the problem is not the lack of a doctrine, but the inconsistency of some who have abandoned liberal values.
“The so-called ‘conservative platform’ within PNL seems to be constructed in Sorin Grindeanu's office. Most likely, this initiative is part of Sorin Grindeanu's announced plan to secure a parliamentary majority for his future political projects or for who knows what other behind-the-scenes construction. PNL does not need a new ‘conservative platform’. PNL already has a political program that clearly defines its identity, values, and direction. The problem is not the lack of a doctrine, but the lack of consistency from some people who have chosen to abandon it. Conservatism cannot be used as a cover for political compromises,” stated Raluca Turcan.
She urges those who wish to form a new party to have the courage to support their beliefs and to seek the vote of the citizens. In contrast, the president of the Brașov County Council, Adrian Veștea, supports the importance of authentic dialogue within PNL and promotes the liberal-conservative platform as an effort to reaffirm the party's doctrinal identity. Veștea believes that the diversity of opinions is a valuable resource and that the platform is not against the party, but aims to strengthen it through respect and open debate.
