Radu Marinescu, the Minister of Justice, stated that Romania meets the European standards regarding detention conditions, which could positively influence the extradition of former mayor Sorin Oprescu, detained in Greece. He emphasized that since the last extradition request, new rulings from the Court of Justice of the European Union have emerged that support Romania's request. Oprescu, convicted of serious crimes, was detained in Thessaloniki, and the Greek judges are set to decide on the extradition request.
