Radu Marinescu, the Minister of Justice, announced that the extradition procedures for Horațiu Potra from Dubai could take several months, emphasizing that the ministry has no information that the mercenary is to be brought back to the country today. The statements come in the context of last-minute efforts by close emissaries of the Kremlin to stop the extradition. Potra was arrested on September 24, and is currently being held along with his son and grandson. The minister mentioned that there is good cooperation with the authorities in the United Arab Emirates and that a deadline is expected to be set by the court in Dubai. Marinescu avoided commenting on The Guardian's investigation which claims that Russia is trying to block the extradition of Horațiu Potra, but assured that the extradition procedure is being carried out according to the law.
