The president of PSD, Sorin Grindeanu, declared that the party voted overwhelmingly for the withdrawal of political support for Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, which will lead to consultations at the Cotroceni Palace. Grindeanu mentioned that Bolojan will remain at the Victoria Palace for an indefinite period and emphasized that PSD will not support a prime minister in the first round of consultations. He explained that PSD will decide how to act based on the solutions proposed by the other parties. Additionally, Grindeanu mentioned that submitting a motion of censure is an option, but not a priority. He emphasized that PSD will act in accordance with the vote of his colleagues, who called for Bolojan's departure, and that it will seek to contribute to the formation of a pro-European majority. Grindeanu added that PSD will also evaluate the possibility of supporting a motion submitted by AUR against the Government.
"I believe that tomorrow or the day after tomorrow there will be consultations in which each party will state what it sees as a solution for unblocking the political situation. For us, it is simple, an overwhelming vote was given, 97 to 98 percent, nearly 5,000 colleagues voted to withdraw political support from Ilie Bolojan. This means that Ilie Bolojan, from our point of view, of PSD, can no longer have our support, meaning he will no longer have PSD's votes. Ilie Bolojan will practically remain for a period, longer or shorter, at the Victoria Palace, obviously. As a result of these consultations at Cotroceni, each party will surely state how it sees the solution. For us, it is simple, either we will have a pro-Western coalition, just like we have now, but without Ilie Bolojan as prime minister, considering the vote we just gave, or PSD goes into opposition," declared Sorin Grindeanu on Monday evening, at Digi 24.
