The president of the PSD, Sorin Grindeanu, declared on Wednesday that the social democrats are willing to discuss a new governmental rotation, but on the condition that the first prime minister be from the PSD.

After stating that the PSD would sign a political governance agreement, Grindeanu excluded the option for the MEP Siegfried Mureșan, supported by PNL, USR, and UDMR, to hold the first position of prime minister in the context of a possible rotating government.

"But why should Siegfried Mureșan come? Where does it say that in that agreement? No, obviously not," said Sorin Grindeanu.

"I said that I agree with this rotation as long as it starts with the Social Democratic Party. That is what I said and I have not changed my point of view. I have nothing against Mr. Mureșan. It is their business who they propose as their candidate for prime minister. It is not an issue that I will turn into a personal battle and I am not interested in doing that. What interests me and what interests the Social Democratic Party is to quickly find a solution. We have stated the framework in which we can be part of that solution and we did not say it today, we said it from the beginning and we do not change it. This is what we proposed two months ago. This is what we are saying today. Nothing has changed. Others have changed their point of view, not us," added the PSD president, according to News.ro.

Although he previously criticized the idea of rotation, Grindeanu acknowledged that it could be a solution for forming a government with full powers, but he called the scenario "fragile".

The PSD leader accused the PNL of inconsistency in negotiations and demanded respect for the commitments made by the liberals.
