The Prime Minister of Romania, Ilie Bolojan, had a meeting with Raffaele Fitto, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission, during the Conference on the future of cohesion policy. The discussions focused on the implementation of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) and the need to flexibilize cohesion policy to respond to the needs of each member state.

Bolojan emphasized the importance of political stability, reducing the deficit, and the absorption of European funds, considering cohesion policy an essential tool for the development of regions. Fitto highlighted the importance of dialogue with Romania and underscored the priorities for future cohesion policy, including strengthening defense capabilities and investments in infrastructure. Bolojan reaffirmed the government's commitment to support solutions tailored to national specifics in the discussions about the future Multiannual Financial Framework.
