The Young People's Party (POT), led by Anamaria Gavrilă, announced on Thursday, following the consultations at Cotroceni Palace, that it would support in Parliament a “technocratic” government appointed by President Nicușor Dan. The party's position comes amid the prolonged deadlock over the formation of a parliamentary majority and a new Executive.
Anamaria Gavrilă stated that POT would support initiatives intended to contribute to the stability of Romanian society, which she says could lead to “what Romanians want,” including with regard to the budget and the budget revision.
“We will support a technocratic government appointed by President Nicușor Dan,” the POT leader said after the meeting with the head of state and the presidential advisers.
The consultations on September 17 were convened by the president to identify a candidate for the position of prime minister. In the previous round, POT had supported the idea of a “pro-Western, pro-American” government, without announcing its own candidate for the post of prime minister.
