According to the transcripts of the PNL meeting on Monday, Ilie Bolojan stated that the party cannot accept the proposal of President Nicușor Dan to appoint Adrian Veștea as prime minister. Bolojan emphasized that Veștea acted uncollegially, accepting the proposal without consulting the party leadership.
"We are in a situation that the party has not been in for a long time and we have three problems. We have the announcement from Sunday morning by the President of Romania proposing Adrian Veștea as prime minister in such a way as to form a Government. This announcement was made under the conditions in which Mr. Veștea did not inform either me or the Secretary General in advance. From this point of view, it was at least an uncollegial attitude," stated Ilie Bolojan.
He mentioned that PNL had previously adopted three decisions that excluded the possibility of forming a coalition with Veștea in the role of prime minister. Bolojan explained that accepting a discussion for a government led by Veștea would mean invalidating these decisions.
Additionally, he requested a vote to reconfirm these decisions, considering the need to avoid an alliance with PSD. The vote resulted in 39 votes for, 10 against, and 5 abstentions, strengthening PNL's position against collaboration with PSD.
