Ilie Bolojan, the leader of PNL, stated that his party will not accept to support a minority PSD government without clear conditions, following tense discussions at the Cotroceni Palace. Bolojan emphasized that the MEP Siegfried Mureșan, proposed for the position of prime minister, was not agreed upon during the discussions, and PNL will not offer a "blank check" to Sorin Grindeanu.
The first vice-president of PNL, Dan Motreanu, accused PSD of lacking accountability and of requesting votes without accepting the conditions of pro-European parties. PNL demanded guarantees regarding fiscal discipline and the continuation of reforms, considering previous experiences with PSD governments. In a statement, PNL accused PSD of wanting power without responsibility and of blocking serious discussions, coming up with absurd demands.
