President Nicușor Dan and Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan have established a partnership between PNL and USR to nominate a joint candidate for the mayoralty of the capital, with Cătălin Drulă as the favorite. Within the PNL, there is controversy, with many members preferring other candidates such as Stelian Bujduveanu or Ciprian Ciucu. PSD is trying to persuade Daniel Băluță to run, but he refuses and Gabriela Firea could enter the race. Elections are planned for November, although PSD prefers to postpone until spring next year.
