Adrian Papahagi, after announcing that he no longer wishes to be nominated in Eugen Tomac's Government, stated that Nicușor Dan, as president, must avoid Romania going bankrupt and having to appeal to the IMF, as happened in Greece.

He emphasizes that Nicușor Dan must prioritize attracting European funds, essential for the country's economy. Papahagi criticizes the fiscal measures adopted by Ilie Bolojan, considering them incompatible with liberal principles, and mentions that taxes have increased without reducing spending in other areas, such as the SRI.

He also states that Nicușor Dan does not make selfish political calculations, but acts in the interest of the country, having a patriotic vision.

"He (Nicușor Dan – editor's note), as president of the country, I believe has a few priorities. One, not to let this country fall into ruin and have the IMF come to restructure us like Greece for 10 years and for all of us to end up with half salaries and economic dust. First, he wants a government that, for better or worse, attracts European money, because that’s how we live, not from the great production that Bolojan taxed until we all reached the bone, because he taxed it excessively. What Bolojan did is not liberal, let’s be honest: It is very easy to raise VAT, taxes, things. Of course, he had no choice either (...). But I haven’t seen him cut 200 million euros from the SRI. (...) He cut 10% from research. (...) Well, from research, education, culture, that’s where cuts are easy. From the SRI and others, less so. But we won’t discuss these anymore. Nicușor Dan wants the economic stability of the country," said Adrian Papahagi on B1 TV.
