President Nicușor Dan expressed support for Sorin Grindeanu, the interim leader of the PSD, in the context of his meetings with justice leaders regarding the reform of magistrates' pensions. Dan believes that political involvement in this legislative project is natural and that there is nothing wrong in having discussions between political parties and relevant actors.
He also stated that there is political will within the coalition for the law to be adopted, emphasizing that he cannot anticipate the decision of the Constitutional Court. Nicușor Dan rejected the idea of a referendum on this matter, arguing that the tensions related to pensions do not stem from the percentage of 70% or 75% of salary, but from the need to discuss and adopt the law. He emphasized that it is essential for the reform to pass, considering the general consensus on its necessity.
